Frequently Asked Questions
Travel Protection is insurance to protect your vacation investment. In the event that you need to cancel your trip, or leave your trip early due to situations like illness, injury, family emergencies, Travel Protection may cover your emergency travel expenses, medical costs, and any fees and penalties incurred.*
Travelling without insurance is like riding a bicycle without a helmet. Because emergencies happen when you least expect, insurance is a preventative measure to protect you in case of the unforeseen.
There are two main types of Travel Protection: Medical Coverage and Cancellation & Interruption insurance.
Medical coverage insures you in case of medical emergencies while you are away from home. Medical coverage however, does not cover any non-stable pre-existing medical conditions.
Cancellation & Interruption insurance covers you in case you have to cancel your trip for reasons such as losing a job, family emergency, personal illness, or natural disaster. The Cancellation and Interruption plan covers any cancellation penalties charged by the cruise line. Also, in the event of a covered medical emergency which arises after you leave on your trip, the plan covers all the costs related to an early or delayed return home.
A pre-existing medical condition is any condition that existed 3-6 months prior to purchasing your Travel Protection. A condition is pre-existing if you took or received a prescription for any drug or medication, or if you received a recommendation for a diagnostic examination or medical treatment.
Stable pre-existing medical conditions however, such as those being treated solely through prescription medication and remain controlled throughout this period, are covered by our medical coverage plan.
Travel Protection costs vary, depending on such factors like the duration of your trip, the costs of the trip, and your age. Because of these variables, it is best to speak with one of our qualified insurance specialists to find out what is best for your needs.
If a covered medical emergency arises before you go on your trip, our Cancellation & Interruption Plan covers the cancellation penalties that you may be charged by the cruise line.
We recommend you check the fine print on restrictions on any insurance coverage from your credit card company. Most of these policies have maximum limits on how much you will be entitled to, and may not cover the full expense of the costs and expenses incurred.
Most extended health care plans do not provide full coverage once you are outside the country and will only pay for a portion of your expenses in case of emergency.
